Industrie 4.0 is a common acronym for the fourth industrial revolution. It represents the current trend of automatisation and digitalisation in manufacturing technologies, including cyber-physical systems, big data, internet of things and cloud computing.

Industrie 4.0 creates what has been called a "smart factory", providing large potential for cost reductions.
