Millions Available for Petroleum Research

The most relevant public funding schemes for subsea technology all have call for proposal for innovation projects with deadlines 15 October. We can help you find partners and apply for funding.

Published: 1 September 2014

Since 2006 NCE Subsea has fostered good ideas by offering financial support and free consultancy services. So far we have helped raise more than half a billion Norwegian Kroner in funding.

Petromaks2 and DEMO 2000 are two programmes the Research Council of Norway (RCN) have established to support petroleum research, including new subsea technology. While Petromaks 2 supports both applied and basic research, DEMO 2000 funds piloting of new technology.

NCE Subsea met with the DEMO 2000 board in Bergen earlier this year and presented our activities. DEMO 2000 has supported several projects from the subsea cluster, and they very much encourage us to issue more ideas and proposals for funding. This is a very good way of getting track record for new technology.

Other Funding Opportinities

If you have a project that focuses ion marine operations, you can apply for funding from MAROFF (site in Norwegian).

Regional Research Fund alos plan a call for proposals with deadline 15 October. Energy and subsea technology is one of the focus areas for this call. Do also note the opportunity for applying for pre-project funding for initial studies. There are no deadline for pre-project funding. Go to more information about Regional Research Fund (site in Norwegian).

User-driven Research based Innovation (BIA) is the largest funding programme, but this does not fund subsea or petroleum research. However, you should consider this programme if you are looking at other applications.

Pre-project funding

NCE Subsea supports pre-projects with both financial support and free consultancy services to establish R&D projects.

In the past few years we have spent about 2 million Norwegian kroner and supported around 15 pre-projects each year.

We can also help identify R&D partners, customers and industrial partners, as well as provide input on sources of external public funding.
