Connecting Down Under

NCE Subsea continues to promote collaboration between the world’s foremost subsea environments, hence connection to organizations in the global subsea hubs and markets.

During our study tour to Australasian Oil & Gas 2013, NCE Subsea and Subsea Energy Australia took the opportunity to sign a Memorandum of Understanding. The MoU is to act as a framework for cooperation between the two organizations.

The MoU includes, but not limited, co-operation to:

  • Collaborate in promoting technological cooperation and matchmaking between subsea related enterprises of both organizations
  • Facilitate partnershipsbetween Australian and Norwegian subsea related enterprises in the development of new technologies, products, processes or services
  • Implement actions to support increasing competitiveness through international cooperation and technology transfer
  • Collaborate in promoting the National Innovation Systems

Subsea Energy Australia (SEA) is a not-for-profit industry association aimed at championing the Australian subsea industry and promoting their capabilities to the wider regional and global markets. SEA aims to be the organisation, developed and run by industry for industry and to act on behalf of industry as a focal point for companies representing the entire subsea oil and gas supply chain from operators & large contractors through to suppliers, SME's and universities. It is intended that SEA will be a national organisation representing a diverse range of members from all states and territories with subsea oil and gas interests.

NCE Subsea is an initiative by the subsea industry for the strengthening and internationalization of business, R&D and education. The objective is to promote innovation activity, increase international involvement and improve the capacity, competitiveness and value creation of individual players within the cluster as well as the cluster as a whole. In 2006 the cluster was appointed Norwegian Centre of Expertise by the Norwegian Government. 

Bi-lingual database

As a first action of cooperation members of Subsea Energy Australia will be invited to register in Subsea Index, an international bi-lingual database for subsea companies looking for customers, suppliers, partners and joint ventures. In 2012 NCE Subsea signed similar MoU’s with the Brazilian organizations Federação das Indústrias do Estado de São Paulo (FIESP), Organização Nacional da Indústria do Petróleo (ONIP) and Associação Comercial e Industrial de Macaé (ACIM)/Macaé City Hall.
